Looking for peeps sage guidance on portable GPS - eTrex and the like. Don' need a whopper for crossing deserts, just a handy unit for plotting greenlane waypoints and POI

Any tried and tested recommendations?

Thanks folks

The thing about MM is it's ease of use and portability, not to mention sharing routes and tracks, etc with other MM users. I use it on my lappy, PC and on my Dell PDA with BT GPS mouse.
I also have a Magellan Map 330 which I use as back-up and for spot ref's which is a lot easier when checking paper maps.

I had ipaq with built in GPS but found the screen too small and difficult to see in certain light conditions. So invested in an Asus netbook and usb GPS and it's a huge improvement.

I did think about a netbook, but decided to use a HX4700 PDA, which has a 4" VGA format 640 x 480-pixel screen size, plus I had one not being used I also had the powered screen mount for it, its also easy to put in your pocket when you leave the landy.

I do carry my laptop with MM on it as well so I can look up at a larger scale.
