Got my LR3 back.. and it works again.

LR found a faulty height sensor (left rear) that had been affected by moisture. This is after replacing the entire wiring loom there... you wonder how often this is going to happen, since there are exposed wires and connector clearly visible by the rear wheels (That light thing on the right is the tyre):

And of course "visible to me" also means "visible to snow, salt and rain"... we will see. For now I am enjoying this car greatly again.

I am glad to hear the disco is running again. I hope the problem will not reoccur.

Looks very "exposed" the connection - I will have a look underneath our car later today...

In the picture you posted shows two connectors, the one with the white wires is from the wheel speed sensor on that wheel (each wheel has one of these) and the other with the red wires is for the brake pad wear (only on the front left and rear right wheels). The height sensor connector has three wires to it and has provision for up to six wires.

Thats fine, to find the height sensors its best to look for the operating arms, one end is fixed to the sensor which is attached to the chassis the other end is on part of the suspension, upper wish bone i think. What spec of LR3 do you have and could you tell me what the last 6 numbers of the VIN are.

Nice picture, I was curious about the VIN because you said the car was delivered in Jan, so by knowing the VIN I can say that the car was built sometime in Nov, so It took 6 to 8 weeks to get to you in Canada, If your interested LR3 / Discovery 3 VIN's start 300000, so yours is number 10770 off the production line.

Excellent! It was delivered late December actually, 23 December to be precise. So I guess it took 3-7 weeks to get here - 5 weeks average. One week for the boat and 4 weeks for the logistics - the truck alone took two weeks!

Thats not bad for delivery. Whats the general perception of the LR3 in North America? Are you happy with yours?.

General perception is great - see the reviews I linked on http://www.mvw.net/lr3/

I am delighted with mine when it works - and as long as LR fix the issues I will stay delighted.

Issues found are bound to be engineering issues: all that open wire and those open connectors in the salty snow we get here are bound to corrode, and so far I have had a corroded wiring loom replaoced, and a corroded height sensor. And the underside is all rusty after just a few months of winter... I will have it recoated. Drizzly UK winters are fine but perhaps the Canadian climate was a bit tougher than they expected!

The LR3 has several harnesses that go to make up the total electrical system, do you know which harness they changed? I would suspect the chassis harness to be the one giving most trouble but to change it would be a major undertaking and involve lifting the body off the chassis with all that that involves.

Yes - the one underneath at the back. They took two weeks to do it and LR Corporate was involved, so indeed I imagine it was major work.

And all I did was drive through torrential rain in Tennessee!
