Loads of queries on this one so how about a thread where we can all post links to spares that have been good? Obviously we won't know how good until they have been in service for a while and so it will be important to update and amend as required. Even if we cover just the key components that are needed to keep the vehicles on the road it would be beneficial.

Great news. What we need is a pinned thread to put the confirmed good parts suppliers on. So the above for example with some history to back it up. Moderators please? We have good garages so good spares too? Thanks

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173506744238 = PCF000012 = very high quality, some others crack or don't even have the level embossed.
I've also accidentally found Borg and Beck stuff to be very good.

In terms of oil for ze td4: Mannol Defender 7L Semi-Synthetic Engine Oil 10W-40 VW 501.01/505.00 ACEA A3/B3
Cheap! Bargain! and good.

Watched for future reference.

PMF (Pontypool Motor Factors) if you're in South Wales. Quality bits and they won't touch Britpart ;)

For those inclined towards eBay purchases, had good experiences with RT Group based in Leyland, Lancashire. They offer 5 year warranties and ship things fast. www.ebaystores.co.uk/RTG-Automotive-UK

Supplied me with:
Remanufactured Bosch alternator (no exchange) (link)
Borg & Beck DMF clutch kit (no bolts supplied FYI) (link)
Aftermarket MAP sensor (Lemark) (link)
Aftermarket turbo solenoid (unknown manufacturer) (link)

@andyfreelandy I did try this a while back for Britpart stuff that’s actually ok, but it degenerated into rants about how crap Britpart was. Maybe yours is a better approach. No links, but all tried and trusted for years:

Drop links, ball joints: Lemforder.
Clutch and slave (Td4): AP
Prop bearings: GKN - should have FAG bearings, if not, send it back.
Front brake pads and discs: Britpart
Filters: Britpart exc. fuel filter.
LP pump: Pierburg or similar - should cost £100+.
Back exhaust box: Bosal
Rear brake cylinders: TRW

Things NOT to buy:
Britpart/allmakes/Bearmach front caliper slides - they don’t fit.
Aftermarket driveshafts
“ LP pump or filter
“ exhaust box
“ prop bearings
“ wheel bearings

Been there, bought the T-shirt.
