good morning to you all im new to the landrover scene and i bought a defender looking for advice on things i need to do

Make friends with the bank manager (you'll need the money)
Make friends with other Defender owners (you'll need their long suffering and hard earned experience as well as their sympathy)
Open an account at your local tool and machine shop (you'll need 'em)
Say farewell to any other hobbies or interests (you won't need them due to lack of funds, time and friends who don't share your affliction)
Spend time studying the variety of new and interesting ways to discover oil leaks like the one you mention above (for there will be OIL!)
Tool up on security (otherwise you may find yourself waiting outside the local nick with evil intentions and a large crowbar for the release of the scrote wot might inevitably try to steal the now simultaneously cursed but beloved beast that's eaten all your time and money)
