Must admit, I'm dubious about this one! Apparently it's an Overfinch car with uprated steering, suspension, etc...but given they are a performance tuning company, wouldn't they at least start with a 4.6? Seems strange they would use a 4.0. Unless the owner bought the car and then sent to them for the upgrades. Looks like a standard P38 with a wood trim kit to me...

Land Rover : Range Rover OVERFINCH 2001

overfinch weren't just a tuning company. If you had money to spend, you could spec the vehicle with overfinch bits however you wanted. it could be a fake, but he may have the bills to prove the work was done. i have seen a discovery 'overfinch' for sale with the standard 3.9 but it had lots of unique trim.

I think it should have an oval overfinch badge on the tailgate.

I agree, I think its a fake, I could fit a crappy wood finish and say mines an overfinch.

Unless the seller has full proof, with receipts and paperwork, which there would be if it had really been an overfinch vehicle, I wouldnt believe that its real.

Also I'd do some quick research, this day and age overfinch do hundreds of range rover conversions, but back then it seemed less common, from what ive found they only did the odd range rover to mark Anniversaries. Year 2000, no mention of a 2001

This is what it states online:

1986 - Overfinch 570 S (Sport) with GM 700 four-speed automatic transmission
1987 - further development on 570 Sport
1988 - Overfinch 500 E, 500 S
1989 - Overfinch 570 S2
1990 - Overfinch 500i and 570 TPi
1991 - Overfinch 570 Ti
1993 - 10th Anniversary 500i and 570Ti – built to celebrate 10 years of GM-engined Range Rover production
1998 - Overfinch 460i engine conversion for Classic Range Rover, Discovery and new SV 50 Land Rover
2000 - Overfinch 630R Anniversary model (to celebrate company’s 25th year)
2003 - Overfinch 580 S [9][10]
Current - Overfinch Vogue GT (based on Range Rover), Overfinch SuperSport (based on Range Rover Sport) [11], and Holland & Holland Overfinch [12]

(I could be talking total crap, but a quick look on wiki, and overfinch website shows a few details)

Hope this helps.

You may ask Overfinch for records of that serial number vehicle....

At least that's what i've done with a Brabus SLK last year:D and despite not having a big V8, i had the proof that it had received full treatment from them...

they would do as you wanted..ie you could just have lowered suspension, uprated brakes..quick ratio box etc..

It does, left hand side:

I'm still not convinced, though! I can't see anything other than the badge that justifies the £7k price tag. It says standard engine, so all I can image is suspension and brake upgrades, supposedly!

Good luck to the guy :)

It looks the same as mine apart from the wood trim which I've never really been a fan of....
If I could get that sort of money for mine I might be tempted to cash the old girl in....

Is that not just the land rover badge ?

theres a l322 with all the overfinch badges on it parked by my work and it doesnt look much different to a standard one, but im pretty sure you could take your range rover to them and have whatever you fancied done to it, for an over the top price of course!!. I think they would keep documents of their work, but havent they gone belly up??

Well my p38 has a overfinch badge on the right hand side of the tailgate and looks like it has been there some years. So when i bought it ove two years ago i rang overfinch to ask what had been done to it .They said they were aware of the vehicle but to find out what had been done to it they would have to go into their archives and it would cost me fifty pounds !Can you guess what i said ? ......so i dont know what was done to mine :(

Did all P38 Overfinches have colour coded wheels as their tell tale?
I've seen a couple for sale over the past few years, tempting myself, and all had colour coded wheels, to which one "specialist dealer" said was standard for all those that underwent OF treatment from factory. It was the same with bumpers, and wing mirrors, side sills and the famous OF bonnet badge replacing the RR one. And if you change the wheels (as possibly in pics) you're actually devaluing your OF RR?

Even Jeremy Clarksons one on the TG he did in the 90's had the colour coding im sure?

If it was me check how the badge is stuck on the tailgate. If it's slightly lose, glue showing or looks like its been done by mateyboy in his shed then thats a start. You pay all that money Im sure the badge would be professionally mounted.
