OK I'm bit Confused here. 1987 110 with Disco 300tdi
Just separated gear box from engine. to get engine cleaned up before putting back on chassis for my rebuild.
Now there was only 7 studs with nuts on, the rest seemed to be blanked off, you can see in photos, But there is 12 holes in the Gearbox housing,

First 2 photos before separation show studs and one of the blanked off holes. last photo shows the other threaded holes that are blanked.
I'm just learning as I go along here but Is this Normal.??

mating a lt77 to a 300 means not all the bolts are going to line up ,but more than enough do

When I bought it , it was just rolling chassis, with engine and box fitted, I have a load of parts to finally go back in pipes radiator, air filter box ect, but think they are all original defender,
ive fitted plenty of 300s on lt77s like that whilst not satisfying ocd they work ok

Sorry but second pic looks like a broken stud? Not a blank.
Is it just my eyes.

So do I just fit all the original 110 stuff back in, as it was with the original engine that it used to have.
yes unless you want to fit an r380 and embark on more work shifting the engine and transmission forward ,new props and tunnel floor plates etc etc

O My God No will stick with what I've got, couldn't handle all that.
Is this 300s on lt77s a good Combination ?
I have a brand new clutch kit to fit whilst its out and will also get a Timing belt kit and water pump ect, is there anything else I should be changing while its out??

From memory you need to drill and tap the hole at the 6 o'clock position on the flywheel housing and fit a stud. I can't see properly in your pics, I'm not sure that it has been done on yours.

7 is enough, the ocd part of me wants to fit all but experience shows its not necessary and its more cost /work and how far do you want to go, as a hybrid its a compromise, i tend to want to convert to fully 300 as lr did but it has a cost and wont make your truck function different

Will stick with the bits I've got Thanks James
