Hey guys, im wondering is it possible to match a 6 speed gearbox from a puma 2.4 desel engine to a 200tdi ??? I know that defeats the point ofhaving a workhorse 200tdi but she is my daily driver and a little bit more economy wouldbe awesome is all.my beast also has a pto driven winch thats powered from the transfer box and if i change would i loose that or could i keep the same t/box.im just curious and new to the landy scene, any help gratelyappreciated cheers. :)

Doubt very much it would effect economy in any way.
What ratio tfer box have you got fitted?

fit disco t/box 1.222 ,ptos can be fitted just the same, if input gear doesnt have the splines for pto it can be swapped for one that does

Ah i kno looking for econmy in a 110 is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but i
Like driving the jeep alot and i plan doing a serious refurb in the summer so was just
Looking for ways to improve it is all......... ive heard that a disco t/ box is the best option. Thanks for the help guys !!

You can stop that sh1t right now, cnut:(

Done a few trials and have to say the jeeps do everything the land rovers do and driver depending a lot better, plus they seem to be worth peanuts compared to a 90!
But I still tell the owners they are ****e, but most are as passionate about their cars as we are ours, good banter though

This septic thanks you for that.

Ok so apologies for the offensive remark, but its by defender and ill call it what i want. Does anybody kno when the next landrover enhusiasts show is on ??

TBH most if not all of the landrover shows are ****!
Havent been to one for years and I just know I havent missed anything, except blinged up defender after blinged up defender that never go of the tarmac, bit like all the crap in LRO.
Does anyone still buy LRO?

Oh right i was goona go just to buy a few spare parts for my defender is all, but ye i guessed thats what would be at those shows still nice to see them though, but ye i guess real ones are the ones driven off road all the time !!

If you havent been before, its worth it at least once to get a feel, but once you have been to one, trust me they are all the same.
Assuming you want some thing big ie a winch etc then you may get a good deal.
If you have a local club, its worth joining and turning up for laning trips/pub meets etc as you can get good bits for good money
Funniest thing is to see how many defenders have snorkels fitted but not plumbed in!

Oh right cool, well mine is plummed in for sure and dont need a winch cos ive a pto driven winch from the transfer box, so not much point in going now so ha ha ha

Fairey or the superwinch version?
Sad facts they started as mayflower, then bought out by fairey then superwinch
Simply bearings for the line bearings on the drive shaft, gkn only for the u/js.
Oh yeh ive got one to! awesome winch, bit slow but very reliable.
Actually Ive got three but thats another story!

Superwinch, recently refurbished it too, awesome indeed it is.... its a cool bit of kit indeed...... i love mydefender butshe is old and needs a full chassis refurb...

The pto is the same on both makes, there are several variations of shafting, apparently the later ones are one piece with only two u.js, mine has four.
I believe the winch is the same inside with just the end casings different
Always remember to disengage pto before driving off and snapping your winch cable, not that Ive done this you understand!

So if i engage the pto, do i get gears too !! I kno this is stupid but reverse is out and first is in ?? Apologies for the ignorance !!
