Hey guys,

So i was driving to work the other day, it suddenly became fairly difficult to get the car into any gear. It then seemed to free itself up a bit and wasn't too bad, but then when i arrived at work I couldn't get it into reverse at all. It almost like something was blocking the gear from being selected. I then tried other gears, these were still accessible, but not easily.

Any ideas at all?

Cheers,
Greg

EDIT: Its a 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 300Tdi - manual with the R380 gearbox and LT230 transfer box

No idea whar car/engine manual or auto...........so I'll go with clutch hydraulics.........

Have you got an oily wet patch on the floor under your clutch pedal if so its a classic sign of a master cylinder seal leak, if not check the slave cylinder for leaks.
When my master cylinder started leaking reverse gear became very hard to engage.

Cheers guys, it does drop oil on the floor, however i was told when it was serviced that this was from the t/box and that being an old defender the issue wasn't worth worrying about at the moment as it wasn't that bad. I'll check the master cylinder to see whats going on

By floor I was refering to inside the cab under the clutch pedal not on the floor under the car.
