when putting my disco into 1st gear it grinds in, like i hav'nt put the clutch down, but it doesnt do this with any of the other gears and it doesnt do it every time. Any ideas?

A number of ideas most not good. have you done any work on it latley, does it grate in other gears if your not moving, how mutch can you do yourself.when putting my disco into 1st gear it grinds in, like i hav'nt put the clutch down, but it doesnt do this with any of the other gears and it doesnt do it every time. is pedal sitting / biting lower than it was? , have you had to top up fluids the more info you can give more people can help.
