Hi,

I've just bought a TD5 disco 2 and the autobox is having problems.

I was on the motorway and doing 70 and when I put my foot down the revs went really high. Keeps doing this.

Also did it when I was going at 50.

Seems like it doesn't like me putting my foot down.

The 'three amigos' seem to be visiting me aswell but that's by the by.

Anyone know what it is?

Last time I this happen it was on my manual golf and it was a new gearbox

Oil and filter change may help, sounds like a sticky valve block. I'm assuming being a D2 that it's the ZF4HP22e electronically controlled version of the box. Oil should be changed every 24K miles, while you are at it, add some Lucas Transmission Fix, it fixed mine:)

Sounds like clutch pack failure/ torque convertor lockup failure or you may be lucky and oil and filter change.

Bought from dealers, take it back and fixed for free ( see general section sticky "crocke of ****e")

Hi,

If you floor the accelerator at any speed the revs will go really high...that's the D2 auto for you. Very revvy.

But...assuming you know that then I'm assuming the problem you're describing is a problem rather than normal behaviour.

Hi Guys, cheers for the advice. I'm taking it to Wimbledon Automatics for a diagnostics. Hopefully it won't be a new gear box at £1800
