Hi to all at land rover zone. I've just signed up as a new member, and would just like to say hello to everyone, I drive a D reg ex mod 90.Live in the Conwy valley, North Wales. I am having a go at sorting a mate's heater problem, but before ripping out his dash/wiring loom thought it might be a good idea to see if any one has come across the same probs before. THE PROBLEM; every time that he turns the blower fan on it blows its fuse. Is this a common fault with them is there a common fix. PS MATES LANDY IS AN R REG 90

Its a landy heater, save your self a few Kg's and a whole load of hassle and just chuck the thing, mine was about as useful as being coughed on by the pope.
But if your set on keeping it, first check all the connections, sounds as though its shorting on something and blowing the fuse. Oh yeah, and you do have the right amp fuse?

Disconnect the heater from the wiring loom - then switch it on. If the fuse still blows, it's a short in the wiring. If it doesn't you need to get the heater box out and investigate. It may be that it just needs a good clean out.

had same problem with me 110, as mentioned above- disconect the multi pin plug to the blower, located at rear right corner of engine bay (as you look at it) should be down in that corner behind the heater box somewhere. then switch on fan control. if it still blows then youve got a short somewhere and its going to be a case of tracing the wires to find it. if it doesnt blow then your fan is prob stuck/knackered. take off the intake pipework and try to turn it by hand, could just be bit gummed up with crud, spin it by hand till it feels free then try switching on again. otherwise new motor
