Have tried to work this out, but just don't know enough about pipe...

I have put a TD5 fuel tank in the brackets at the back of my 90 as part of a dual tank setup. It looks like I can get the filler pipe from the tank, over the spring hanger and to a Y piece at the side filler.

But what pipe would I use? I think the TD5 filler is about 55mm and the 300tdi one is bigger.

So I guess I need a straight bit and then a couple of bends and another straight? Any ideas where I get this pipe from?

I've not done this exact job, but I'd be looking at the sort of suppliers that cater to kit car enthusiasts. They often have all sorts of pipes in different diameters, plus adapters to shift between sizes, elbows, T pieces and the like.

Thanks. Good idea. Something like this would do I guess.

Ultra Flexible Fuel Filler Hose 51mm (2") - Car Builder Solutions - Kit Car Parts and Accessories

I wonder if I can make 51mm fit. I reckon so.

Yes. And have you seen their orgasmic 'aero fuel cap'? You've got to have one of those. Experience tells me that it's easier to get a hose fractionally bigger and squeeze it down with a jubilee clip than struggle to fit one that's too small with risk of tearing it or not getting it on at all.

True, though my main filler leaked diesel no matter how tight I did it up.

Hopefully someone will be able to give me the exact diameter of a normal filler pipe for a TD5 tank, I can't find it online.

That website does have some chavvy crap on it :D

Also found this which looks about the same, but reckon I would need 40" which would cost me £57

As luck would have it, I have a bit of TD5 pipe to hand, a filler neck and a digital calliper. The OD of the filler neck is 56.24 mm (though there's a ridge round the edge to help keep the pipe on which is bigger) the ID of the rubber pipe is 57mm at the filler cap end and 50mm at the tank end.

Thanks :)

So the 51mm pipe looks the best bet. Then I will try to find some 51mm metal tubing for the filler neck end then get a friend to make the Y piece for me.
