Good evening all,

I definitely have a leak coming from the rear right of the engine around the area of the fpr. Iv had a good look through other posts and although im pretty sure the fpr is the problem, the leak itself that runs down to the front axel drain plug is more like oil than diesel. Any ideas on this? and has anybody used this repair kit or similar and to what result?
Fuel Pressure Regulator Gasket 4 Bar Land Rover Discovery II 2 TD5 Defender | eBay

Any help will be much appreciated!

cheers

Clean everything up and it's a lot easier to see where the problem is. I've had oil leaks at the rear of the rocker cover gasket that have looked suspiciously like FPR leaks. The 5w30 oil recommended for the TD5 is quite thin and runny too, so it's similar in texture to diesel.

Yea iv recently replaced the oil aswell, I'm keeping a close eye on it and there's no noticeable drop. When I cleaned it all up it was from that area but couldn't pin point it, from what I can tell I think it's more likely to be oil than fuel. Was your solution just to replace the gasket and bolts? Is it a relatively easy job to crack?

Thanks for that, iv had a read of those and from what people are saying it looks more like the gasket could be the problem, time for another good clean up and look around the seal

In my case, the fuel pressure regulator is fine so far. As my rocker gasket was fairly new I just took the rocker cover off and put sealant round on both sides of the gasket and put it back together. That seems to have sorted everything out for the time being. The leak had spread around a lot and as the oil is fairly thin anyway I was wondering if it was the FPR, but it wasn't. The TD5 engine is quite happy to be hosed down with a pressure washer, so I do mine regularly when I'm washing the car so I can see where the oil leaks are coming from, rather than have to contend with everything coated in congealed oil residue and road dirt.

Fuel pressure regulator now replaced, after I sheared a bit of the cashing off over tightening one if the tapperd bolts! Hopefuly that will solve the problem as there's no oil coming out of the rocker gasket

Well it wasn't the fpr after replacing it! It was the gasket not quite sealin at the very back, gasket looked brand new so siliconed it in to place properly and that's the problem solved!

Cheers for your help everyone!
