When you lift your foot of the throttle and coast, downhill for example, does the engine management system stop injecting fuel entirely or just back to the idle setting?

It drops fuelling down to the same as idling, so to keep the CAT up to temperature.

So, as economically viable as burning more fuel to compensate for reduced NOx when you have an EGR fitted. Or am I missing something?
