I fetched a new fuel filter & decided today would be a good day to swap it.
Old one looked very tired & had been on a few years from looking at it, it came off quite easily & I took it into the garage to do the sensor swap onto the new one.....you know whats coming don't you :(

It's just spinning on the threads, OK I thought I'll nip to the dealers & pay through the nose for a new one, nope none in stock at Derby. Nottingham is closed for stock taking,Paddocks are all out & DLS who "always have 'em in" ain't got any.

It's raining diesel out of it when I tried to see if it would run with the old one back on. Put the new one on with the blanking plug to see if that would run but the fuel pump is too busy sucking air I presume to start the engine.

What should have been a 15 minute job has grounded the truck until Monday when they will hopefully be in stock at DLS.

Bugger.....

probably if I knew what fuel resistant RTV was ? :)

Just found a dealer who is going to get one for tomorrow in Chesterfield.

ps for future ref. its this...like silicone, makes a semi hardening seal that resists fuel, oil, water, heat etc...

The thread getting fooked on the sensor is a common fault. Next time you get yerself a filter, get one with a drain bung in the bottom. That way you can keep it in yer vehicle in case you happen to suffer the same fate again. As a temporary measure you can always shove a bolt in the bottom of the filter.;)

I'd cross thread it or something else would break :(

It'll keep until tomorrow, we'll do the farms we need to walk tonight & then get back to shooting in comfort Saturday night :)
