Hi guys can any one help . I have a 2006 freelander td4 . Bought it about 2 months ago and thought was better to replace all the filters. Changed the fuel filter during the week and she refused to start in put the battery on charge and tried it yesterday I thought since it was striped I would replace the fuel pump . Eventually got her to start with the help of jump leads. She ran well and started after stopping. Not starting today battery on charge.she sometimes runs for about 30 sec then stops. Help.

Freelander 1 filter and pump behind wheel arch. Thanks for the reply. Got her going this afternoon. Goes well when driving but still hard to start. Hopefully she will start in the morning.

Did you drain the water filter at the same time round plastic thing in the cradle with the pump and filter? Could it be sitting at a slightly different angle allowing water in the fuel?
Could the fuel be flowing back towards the tank for some reason and if so why?
Maybe stupid questions but just throwing them out there.
Tell us what you did and if you had any issues and maybe some of the guys will spot the cause.

Hi guys rover started this morning after a lot of grinding. Sounded a bit lumpy duty performed great on driving. Checked after an hour same problem. Anyone know if there is a non return valve in the system. Thanks

I've heard the BP ones can collapse. Was the filter the only job you did? In this case, you have to suspect either the way you did it or the part you fitted. Get a Mahle filter - even if it's not the problem, at least you know you have a decent filter in there. A collapsed BP filter can ruin your expensive fuel pump and leave you stranded.

Thanks for that it started out as just the filter . But when it didn't start I decided to fit a new pump got a bosch one . I'll get a filter tomorrow and try again. Thanks for the help.

Perhaps try blowing through the old Britpart filter and see if it is blocked? At least you'd know that was the problem.

I've heard that too. I try to avoid BP products that I can't see how they are made. I'll use them if I can see the construction and think it's acceptable. A fuel filter doesn't fit into the latter category.

Hi guys. Update got a filter from local dealer fitted it and she started first time. Brit parts sh $# parts. Only problem now engine management light is on . Have disconnected the battery hope that cures it or its off to the dealer
Thanks for all the help really appreciate it.

Sh!tpart strikes again!

There's plenty of discussion on here about what I call the Blue Box Lottery. Some BP stuff is fine and fits a market where the car isn't worth an expensive genuine part. Other stuff is so shockingly bad...

(A new BP exhaust after just 18 months)

... That it's not even fit for purpose.

Comes down to cheaping out on manufacturing and quality control. But a collapsing fuel filter can ruin the fuel pump and leave you stranded. Not worth the risk. Ditto clutch.

On the other hand, I've always run BP discs and pads, saved loads of money, and never had a squeak or problem from them.

This BP part is fine and made by the OE supplier.

It pays to do lots of research where BP boxed items are concerned.

Hi guys disconnecting the battery didn't work. She starts first turn but is in limp home mode. Is there any way to switch this off. Or is it a trip to the dealer?

06 Freelander shouldn't need a dealer-level scan tool. Anyone with a reasonable diagnostic scanner should be able to reset, but more importantly read the codes.

There isn't a limp mode. There's a fault that is stopping it generating full power.
You nees to get the codes read. Any decent OBD2 reader should tell you what's wrong with it.
