Hi all

I have a slight noise when from the front end of my disco 2, it rises and falls with the cars speed. I thought it was wheel bearings but I jacked it up and checked them and all seems ok with no play/noises.

Could it be a worn diff, or would an diff oil change help ? the oil level seems ok but although the oil is clean it seems more like engine oil than ep90.

thanks guys :)

Get it out quickly and replace with EP80-90 GL5. And check the back diff and tranny box at the same time. IF someone has made a mistake - they might have made more than one !!!!!

Same as what they both said .. but definitely change the axle/diff oils ... or at least get some Ep to check it side by side .. ;)

Might sound daft, but sometimes the rear donut (rear prop to diff) and diff can cause noises from the front! When my rear diff went, I, a mechanic and a local very good Landy independant thought it was front nearside wheel bearing. Only when we ran it with the wheels off the ground could we tell it was the rear diff ... three teeth knocked off the crown wheel .. :)

Don't forget, a Landy is held together by a series of tubes, all of which transmit sound quite effectively.

Hi

Well the disco went for mot a couple of days ago and failed on a wheel bearing, guess i found the noise !

One new hub later and a nice new mot ! :D

Thanks for the advice !
