how do you remove the front bumper on a p38 1995 diesel please got to take it off due to a dickhead pulling out in front of me and putting the range into some metal railings

Undo a clip either side of the front valance underneath then undo the two bolts under the front bumper and slide it forward.
10 min job unless the bolts haven't been out in 18 years and have rusted in. Then a nightmare.

When you undo the bolts, the bumper should drop a few mm to release the upper locating pegs. It may need a thump on the top surface. It will not pull forward until it drops.

They do sometimes stick as said above so don't be frightened to give it a small thump to loosen it a little ! It's quite an easy job better if two of you on it to hold it!

does anyone know what size socket is it for the bumper bolts please just incase i need to buy one

Bolts are 10x30 so 17 mm socket. If they are rusty single hex better than bihex.

The bolts on mine had star type torx heads, had to go buy a special spannerthanks very much mate your a star

Yeah they are BMW specials. Have set of sockets for those.

Have a look and see what you have on your car. If it's 1999 on it will be those. These are what you will need if they are.

Then it may not have them they are pretty specific to VW, BMW, Audi and Merc. But have a look first.

it does have the torx ones so job is now done pretty simple thanks to you all for the help and advice

Tried to remove my front bumper today ready to prime it tomorrow. Undone the wire clips each side that locate the plastic profile rail in place undone the two torx bolts and used a rubber mallet but it wouldn't budge an inch. So probably gonna take fogs out and mask up the car and spray it on the car.
