First post here hope someone could help. I look after 3 freelanders 1s for people and 2 have rear side doors that won’t open. They are making all the right noises just won’t open. I decided it would be smart to put power in the wires going to the door lock and I have fried the CCU i think as it’s now clicking mad and back door clicking aswell and the key fob or windows won’t work.. so 2 questions.. how I’ll I get doors open and if I get another CCU can I just plug it into fuse box and will it work even if I forget about the key fob for now.. thanks. It’s a 2004 1.8 petrol thanks again hope someone can help

If the door lock was making a noise then the solenoid was probably activating OK.

When unlocked, or supposed to be unlocked have you tried the inside and outside handles? Sometimes the stiff wire bends and can't be opened from the outside but can from inside. Mine did this and I simply reshaped the wire slightly to compensate for many years of tugging it!!

Wrt the ccu, if you energise sommat always isolate it from the driving electronics first. I believe that the ccu holds the fob code, as you say. Otherwise if you get a 5 door ccu you should be OK as the 3 door has a roof off control included.

If the door is stuck shut then it is possible to remove the door trim and flip the lock from inside the door. Very tricky to do without trashing the door trim though.

Thanks for the reply, I threw in a CCU from a 2001 td4 and everything working again I will make do without the fob for now.. I took door card off and found the child lock had somehow flipped and that’s what caused it to lock from inside and out so panic over

Child lock doesn't stop opening from outside. Check the outside handle works OK. If not the wire rod has deformed as above.
