I was out in my Freelander last night and I had the front end in a ford, only about half of the front wheels were under water but it looked very deep, so i decided to reverse and not chance it. But it would not go back, it was like one of the wheels were spinning but none were. Another thought was maybe the clutch was slipping but again, out of the water I tried it in a high gear with loads of revs and it stooled instantly with no slip. Faced with its refusal to back up, i went through it and i was very impressed with it, but it felt similar going forward as if something somewhere was slipping, I am sure it was not clutch (unless somehow it is effected by water) and I am 90% sure a wheel was not spinning.
Any ideas?

Hello,

Interesting situation. What happened afterwards? Were you able to resolve the problem? did it ever happen again? I would like to know as this could happen to anyone. what type of Land Rover do you have?

Thanks

It sounds like the traction control had kicked in. What do you think? I've had mine in water over the wheel rims (naughty!) and had no problems at all. Just remember to keep that bow wave going !
