Dear Afflicted (Anyone who owns a Freelander).
I have a much loved 98 1.8 Freelander. (23 Door) and amongst its many loveable(?) eccentricities is a reluctance to engage reverse unless I make a very deliberate down and left on the clutch and gearstick.
The gearbox is as sweet as anything I've ever driven, however usually from a parked state when I go to put it in reverse it feels like it's engaged just fine but when I then de-clutch to move away I hear the gears clearly skating each other.
This usually results in me having to re-clutch and then having to re engage with thew aforesaid deliberate movement. This is more embarassing than anything else but I would like to know if it can be cured.
