freelander engine swap more power needed

right guys this is a job for the future as I have only recently re done the head gasket cam etc but really need some more power so am looking into researching an engine swap don't want anything too complicated what suggestions do you have? currently it's a 1.8k series

No I suspect not. I would get the box from the donor car. You may well have to do a mix-and-match.

You have a K-series engine, the two mention about are O-series engines, same/similar to those fitted into the MPi Discovery. However, the 220 Rover and the 800 Vitesse are both FWD cars, which is basically what the FL is with the addition of the IRD for driving the rear wheels.

Overall most likely not a straight drop in but do-able.

An alternative would be to save for a TD4. Early ones are about £2k now, more powerful and a heck of a lot more reliable, engine-wise. Well it is a BMW lump :D
 
A T series bell housing and PG1 have exactly the same dimensions.
New mounts will need made up.

I still have my doubts with space between T sump and IRD.

We need a dimension from crank to rear of sump on a T
