hi, i've recently got a td4 freelander mark1 (5 door) and have some electric window problems.

when i got the vehicle the passengers side windows (front and rear) didn't work but both drivers side windows were ok. Now the drivers front window has packed in and is stuck approx 1 inch from the top.

when pressing the switch there is no sound from the motor and after removing the door card there does not appear to be any snapped cables. The window will not push up any further from inside the door.

I have checked all 4 related fuses which are ok. Because 1 window (drivers side, rear) still works i assume this rules out any relay problems.?

some advice would be great if anyone could help, don't want to be buying any parts until i know exactly whats needed

thanks in advance, akkers

I wouldnt rely much on the inspection with the door card off? Did you feel at the back of the runners if the wire was still there? Even at this its still possible its fooked and the wire is snapped or freyed and tangled up within the motor. Check the motor connector for power if you have a voltmeter to rule out electrical fault. If you have volts then the regulator is probably dead. You can get repair kits cheap and its quite easy to repair them, assuming motor hasnt been burnt out.

Do the console buttons work also there is isolation button that prevents the rear working. Sometimes the buttons themselves are knackered so swap on the console first to see if all the windows are faulty. As for a window not returning up this as mentioned before could be frayed inside the reel and seized. But worth checking the buttons first to confirm how many are working.

When I bought my Freelander three windows were dead and one was dodgy. Common Freelander faults I'm afraid, New regulators should sort them.

I've got the same problem , did you fix this ?
I bought a new regulator and the motor worked for 1 second now it just makes a clunk noise

The motors are normally OK but yours may be duff. Only way to check is to try one from another window or buy a good used one online but I'd have another look to see if you've cocked it up somewhere.
That's often an issue for me. :(

I've got three windows out of action , the rear right one the cable has snapped , rear left looks like it's been bodged .
Is there anything that could make all three not work ?
I've checked all fuses
