Freelander door locks

Hi everyone I'm hoping someone can help me, the remote o my freelander has never worked so always used key however lately its just started to unlock itself and to lock it I have to turn the key to lock and hold while it fights me to unlock then gives up and locks any help pleeeaase , thankyou
