Freelander 2 Auto Transmission Problems

Hi,

I have tried to drive my freelander 2 2007 today and i cant get into any gears, the automatic gear shift moves through all the options fine but there is no drive, forward or reverse?

I am no mechanic but i have opened the bonnet and located the gear, box, the selector bar on top doesnt appear to move at all no matter what is selected i the car, any ideas what could have stopped this from working, could it be a simple fuse, the battery was changed a day or 2 ago if this could have shorted anything?

Sorry never touched a Freelander 2. There are relatively few FL2 owners on here and I guess most if not all have not yet had to resort to rectifying faults probably due to vehicle age and/or existing warranties.

I'm pretty sure there is a dedicated FL2 forum on the net though.

i would suggest the linkage, usually a cupped socket has fallen off the bottom of your shift lever.
