All,

I have done a search and read loads of threads about tyres.

I currently have a 2004 sport (lowered suspension 20mm I have read)

I have just fitted 16inch wheels with 215/65/16 and 5mm spacers. My question is will 225/75/16 cooper at3's (£260 on the last 4 from the supplier) fit on and clear without a lift? I know I'll gain 25mm clearance with these tyres.

I will be lifting it with a 40mm kit and replacing the sports suspension with standard suspension and gain another 20mm, to do it all at once would cost me about £800-£1000 including fittings so trying to do it in bite size chunks, mainly to hide it from the household auditor who frowns about spending loads of money on toys when there are kids to feed etc blah blah blah .

Thanks in advance

Matt

I think you may run into a bit of trouble with those without a greater wheel offset.

there’s a thread on the Freelander section covering tyre sizes - so worth checking that out :)

Well I just got a steal on some new 225/75/16 maxxis buckshot ls, 5 brand-new for £200.

I mounted one to the spare and test fit it, with the 5mm spacer on the Freelander 16" alloy, they fit, clear the shocks and don't scrape on the arches at all. Luckily some of the reviews on the tyres state they actually measure under the rated size slightly meaning a 29inch tyre is actually about 28.1 etc.

So next it's suspension or sell the sport, I have sort of lined up a nice clean 2004 HSE and provisionally sold the sort but we'll see.
