Hi I recently bought a freelander 1 petrol face lift need some advice
When starting from cold starts first turn of key drive approx 100 metres down the road it cuts out, it restarts with a little struggle but then it's fine
Also the engine light flashes or stays on it also feels like its holding back when driving and am getting really bad exhaust fumes inside
Code scan showed misfire faults so I have replaced plugs, coils and leads, coolant temp sensor Checked fuel pump all working
I have disconnected the oxygen sensor pre cat and this appears to have made a difference with the power. Any more info greatly appreciated was going to remove exhaust manifold to inspect as I can't find an exhaust leak also when looking in the live data the fuel adaptation is reading 90_100% which is why I think k it's running rich and exhaust fumes present

Thanks

Have you checked the fuel pump pressure? Low fuel pressure will cause the ECU to increase the duty cycle of the injectors.

I have checked fuel pressure all ok
Had the compression checked today cylinders 1,2 and 4 180 psi and cylinder 3 is low on 120 psi
So will now have to remove head and see what has happened hopefully it's just the gasket

I'd go for a Payne elastomer gasket rather than an MLS one as it will be more forgiving of imperfections.
Others may say different but you'll know better when you get the head off.
Let us know how it goes.
