Freelander 1 break lights stuck on but also flicker when driving.

Hello, really confused. I have a Freelander1 2.0td4 05 my brake lights are stuck on when I turn the ignition on and they also flicker when I'm driving. I've looked at the pedal switch and it's not that. I've traced the wires from fused box to rear for any shorts. Been through all the relays and fuses, and checked the bulbs.
Been to a friend at a garage and tried to look at diagrams on the pc.
I'm trying to figure what the little black box on the rear of the passenger fuse box is as it appears to be connected to my issue. I can hear some sort of clicking noise in the F-box and when I can hear it, I can see the lights flicker on and off.
Please help guys!

Are you showing up any lights on the dashboard. TC Handbrake. Do you have a stick to prop the brake to the seat or have another bod to assist. This will test the brake switch is working. What should happen is the brake lights fail to work.
Flickering could also be an earthing issue or dodgy bulb.

I've had a friend sit and do the brake pedal but it's not the switch! Ive tested it and it's fine plus when the lights go out breifly I can break and they light up and then go out when I lift. But then something in the fuse box ticks and they illuminate again. It's definitely not the switch! It's something shorting or a switch on a module on the passages fuse box. I've tried everything that's on this forum and Google ‍♂️‍♂️ thank you for the welcome tho

If you can, post your problem on the Freelander section, hopefully the grand wizard Nodge offer better answer.

Well since putting this post up I had a brain wave after reading somewhere that the brake lights and hdc and abs are linked so hunted for the abs ECU. Found it and unplugged it all and hey presto my brake lights went out but still came on when I pushed the pedal. I took it apart and there is a few relays inside so I suspect that one of those are the fault and causing the clicking noise and lights to flicker. So I'm going to hope that the abs ECU is the problem.
