Greetings.
This will be my first post although I thought I had been a member for about 7 years!
I live in Worcestershire, own a 110 300tdi defender and a freelander 1 1.8 53 plate pre facelift. I have owned 2 defenders a 90 and the current 110 and neither of them had anything more electric than a stereo!
Anyway I hope you can help because this is the issue:
Freelander 1 1.8 2003. Has coil pack.
Son put jump leads on wrong way round (flat from lockdown) came to get me because it wouldn't start.
Had a look, reversed the leads and nothing.
We had cooked the immobiliser.
Replaced immobiliser and ecu and 2 key chips (Tried two different full sets) and she starts BUT the cooling fan is on flat out as soon as you turn the key, even to AUX and stays on for about 4 mins when ignition is turned off.
I have read everything I can and tried numerous things to fix it. As far as I can see there are no fused cables, no blown fuses and the OBD2 reader reports the correct temp.
This is a non AC car, perhaps this is the issue? Put old ecu back in with new immobiliser and no fan but obviously she turns over but doesn't run for more than a second. Have pulled all the AC Independent fuses and it still happens.
I am at a loss.
Please, if anyone can help it would be fantastic.
