Is it normal for the fuel pressure regulator to make a hissing sound while the fuel pump is running? Early 10P engine.

No fuel leak, and cannot feel any air anywhere. Was doing it beforehand, so changed the FPR anyway as I had one, no different

I’ve not got poor starting, fuel leaks or anything. Just hoping someone with a good running 10P engine can confirm if there’s is the same

didn’t realise i hadnt added the rest of it about the hissing sound

but as u say better to get someone else to have a listen for u

That hissing sound in the engine bay during the purging sequence is normal, mine and others are doing it, it's a problem when it isnt there cos that means the pump doesnt work well, i can't explain why or what is causing it... though iirc a said in other post that the FPR has nothing to do with poor starting

Many thanks, yes starting isn’t my issue though. Was more concerned there was air in the system but it sounds like that noise is normal

Yes you should hear the fuel flowing through the fpr. Some are louder than others. Take a long handled screwdriver and put it against the fpr with your ear on the handle and you will hear the fuel "squishing" through the regulator. It shows good flow rate from the pump.

Yes I could hear that, it was the air coming out of the hole I couldn’t understand
