Hi guys, Came across a little problem today whilst out driving. i was on the motorway cruising at about sixty and put the foot down and nothing then i felt as if the engine began to die on me. only happens when travelling at around sixty though. I rececntly fitted a new intercooler. sorry i have a 90 td5.

Simple things first.
Have you checked all hoses are tight from turbo to intercooler and intercooler to manifold? Check the smaller wastegate actuator hose as well. Do you have a boost gauge fitted to see if the turbo is boosting as expected?
Have you played with the turbo boost? If you turn it up too much the ECU will register a boost fault and switch to safety mode (limited throttle response a bit like when in low range) until you restart the engine. Unless you have a turbo boost modifying gadget between the manifold pressure sensor and the ECU you are stuck with about 1 bar boost max before a fault is registered.
I had similar problems with mine until Gary at TD5 Alive sorted it out. My turbo was overboosting, my airflow sensor was dead, and my intercooler was leaking through a hose connection at full boost.
