I had a slight flat spot down low this as has been on going and appears to have got worse to the point it was delaying until the engine loaded up before taking off this has been very dangerous to drive as it delayed while pulling out into traffic foots down but no response

on sunday I thought I would just check injector bump ..to each number on the cam shaft ....3..4..5 was 2 and half turns out 1 and 2 was 1 and half turns out ..test drove today very humid with air con on ..it now alive very responsive ..I am just wondering is it best to aneal the new copper combustion washers next time I install new ones I have a funny feeling mine have flattened out a bit I wont know until I pull them out some time this week

Better to anneal them yes... 2and a half turns out? You're engine must of been clattering?

I never noticed any clattering I can only think that when the injector is in a relaxed position there is still enough pre load on the injector
the road train engines I work on they run the same type of injection (cam driven ) only these are adjusted in the relaxed position ie finger tight to then 120 degrees..if they are one turn out then they clatter or diesel knock depending on adjustment

before I did the adjustment you could stamp on the peddle boost gauge rises very slowly until 2000 rpm then it wanted to move I have counted at least a 3 second delay at times on a bad day ..I was thinking more of a fuel regulator or a sensor issue .. after the adjustment I have noticed more responsive down low ..on top end or cruising speeds I have noticed the speedo can creep so now I have to re adjust my driving style to suit the changes

I have to admit 2 half turns is allot considering its not a fine thread on the adjuster

all good mate and all the best for the new year
been very busy just moved into the house that we have just built ... setting my my main part the garage and sealing concrete along with extra lights .. while the wife sets up the house ... my td5 proved its a good work horse in 35 to 40 degree heats while towing loads all day long for days on end she never missed a beat apart from the delay from take off .. i had an idea what was wrong so i tilted my left side mirror to watch the colour of smoke out of the chimney. ...my boost gauge was also was a good indication when power kicked in as it seemed to be lacking fuel on take off only
