Hi All,

I'm looking to add a reverse camera to my vogue (....cue jokes about not being able to park, car too big for me etc. ;)) for no other reason as than I love playing around with this sort of thing and it's the only thing missing from my Vogue - it has everything else I could want!

I have the touchscreen Satnav / TV etc. in dash and in the developer settings it does have the "Reverse Camera" option but it says not installed (obviously).

I wondered if anyone could give me any pointers on what I need to hook a camera up, does it need to be genuine Land Rover? Is it plug and play? Can I add a third party camera that connects via RCA ports etc.

Any help would be great!

Cheers
Chris

The only ones I have seen so far were done by replacing the spoiler, to one with camera fitted. Then diagnostics used to set camera to take over satnav screen when reversing.
Afraid I have no idea ref the rest of it. Have very little idea even on the switch over spoiler :D

Do some searching - I have seen people install BMW handle units. Some minor modifications for fitment is required as well as the wiring. I would imagine you have to modify the harness length and connector to plug into your screen.

On an OEM type install the run is short to the left side of the boot, but yours would require some wiring near the boot and a run to the front with the signal feed.

On my 2004 I used the original harness and put in a license plate mount, but it always gets in the way of the handle. For this reason I would tell you to look into a BMW handle unit so you have a clean install and full function.

I went the bmw x5 number plate light way, have to cut part of tailgate handle to fit it but when you fit the tow bar you can just see the top of the ball. And before some one says learn how to drive I some times have park on the road and if the car I`m backing up is one of those little japanees sports type things with a really low front before you know it you`re have way up the bonnet, just thought, maybe if I stuck it in low range I could park on top of it !

I think you take the car to the workshop, they may be of great help advising you about it

Stick your head out the door? ;) :D So many of those little things around, the old ways are coming back into habit.

Did you ever remove the spoiler to see if you have the wiring loom to retro fit the reverse camera? I'm thinking of doing the same by adding a used genuine camera.
