I have a m reg disco. 5 door. And want to fit leather rrc seats in the front. I have done a search and some people say they don't fit and you need to make brackets for them. Then others say they will go straight in. So I just wanted to see wgat you guys thought about it and if you can shed anymore like on it.

Thanks goz

Hi Goz, there are two different sets of seat runners for the TDi 300 depending on age but you can fit RR seats in them front and back.

If you find yours are not a direct fit all you need to make up is an adapter plate which is basically a piece of flat metal with holes drilled in it to fit the plate to the runners and then to the RR seat bottoms.

Use some cardboard as a template to work out size and hole positions.

yeah as i have been doing some research and trying to work out which runners i have got, as i am hoping to just get some rrc seats and just fit them right in, so i dont have any messing about to get them to fit, and i am also trying to see if i can fit elecric rrc seats, as if i get seats with motor and controls in, will it just be simple and just fit the power and earth to?

measure across the seat fixing bolts, ie left to right, the early seat mountings were considerably narrower than the later ones (which are now a fairly standardized measurement) I had an L reg disco with the early mounts, I made an adaptor bracket to fit RR seats, but you can't fit electric seats as there's all the motors etc underneath the seats, if you're having to make an adaptor, you'll nead the basic steam driven seats.

I have managed to get some leather elec seats out of a h reg rrc. My disco I think has the narrow seat runners. So I might have to make adapter. But I don't know how I am going to wire in the electric seats. I am hoping to pick the seats up Tomoz and fit them aswell.

I don't know if this is a silly question but I have got my MOT on Tuesday. Would changing the seat effect the mot?

Thanks goz

So long as your seats are secure, if they're meant to slide they do, and the seatbelt fixing is secure & working that's all that is needed for the MOT.
The seats that you've got with the electric motors etc. you might find that you can't get them in when you've made the adaptor, the motors etc get in the way.

yeah i think i will have to make adaptors for the seats to fit and somehow chop some frame out becoz of the motors, but i am not sure if i will be able to wire up the motors so would it fair the mot for the seats not being able to move?

Couldn't say if it is mot required.. I do have some paperwork somewhere that shows which pins to wire up to get the seat moving back n forward... I'll have a look for it later.. I got some and just never got round to doing it something more important allways went instead and then had to sort that. lol
