I am definately going to have a chip put in my 2.5d next Monday all being well from JE Engineering. By the way, they have 30% off them at present.

I have seen I can buy an intercooler for around £375 inc VAT.

My question is, do you just remove the old cooler and fit the new one, is it that simple? Is it a fairly straight forward job?

Do people recommend an oil change at the same time?

My oil cooler pipes are slightly leaking, so I guess that would be the ideal time to fit new ones.

Also those people who have had the larger cooler fitted, what benefits have you seen?

Any info would be very helpful, thanks.

hi,i would get the chip done first then see if you want the new intercooler,i have my 2.5 t/diesel fitted with a power box not a chip and i dont need a bigger cooler,if you do fit one it will be staight forward to fit just use flexi pipe to connect it,also an oil change is always a good idea imho.:D

I had one fitted, about 5 years back or less, it did make a big change in the cooling affect, and the running, i had it chipped before that and again well worth it, i paid for it with CASH and it was a lot cheaper doing it that way, i always ask first, and 90% of the time i get a good response, i don't care if they pocket it or don't pay the VAT, im not running there books for them, i used these guys they make them themselves, they have knowledge and skill, a good professional place to go

just had a look at the site mentioned by dopey, very good site and informative, thanks.:D

Get the biggest one you can, Alisport make them, i saw the guy who makes them, and he takes his time and duz a proper job, better than the Chinese rubbish you get for £10 less

ALLISPORT want nearly 500 quid for a full size cooler and theres more work involved when you come to fit it too.i have a replacement allisport intercooler on the disco and that made a good difference..i sold my full size cooler for the RR to EMINENZ off here..mines chipped and i'm going down the replacment performance intercooler road again to save a bit of cost and fitting hassle..after all its just a diesel but these few little things will help with towing a great deal..
