Fitting Diesel Ebspacher D2 Heater.

I had a mate with a decent size fiat motorhome that had one of those diesel heaters, no idea the brand but it just seemed to be a case of, supply the timer / thermostat / input panel + distribution fan with 12v, then rig up a diesel feed, along with an exhaust pipe, which i'd guess you shouldn't put near anything too flammable. Will also need a tiny pump low pressure pump to supply the heater of course unless it came with one.

Still, you'll never have an even remotely chilly cab ever again!

Thanks for your help I have ordered a Ebetspacher D2 Dies Heater but am still a bit worried messing with the fuel line. Everything else is fine.
Thanks again
Jonny

I think all you need is some small capillary line and a one way valve (placed where you T'd the original line), to prevent the engine causing fuel to draw from it while running.

Looking at the specs on that heater (as i was curious), even on the lowest setting it kicks out almost a kilowatt of heat while only consuming 1litre of fuel per 10 hours operation, you could possibly even just rig up a separate small 2l - 3l tank (old washer bottle or any similar polyethylene / steel container), and then run it as a stand alone system for 20-30 hours continuous use between fills, and that is assuming you want to keep the cab pretty hot the whole time as well, no doubt at a 50% duty cycle with a bit of a boost from the timer before you get in of a cold morning you'd see over 30 hours on 2 litres.

Pics of what you eventually cobble together anyway please!

Hi. Does anyone have experience in fitting one of these to a 90 pickup. Amy advice would be very welcome. Thanks Jonny.

I will send you pics when it is done. I think the kit will take a week or so to arrive. Do you think the fuel the heater uses will starve the supply to the engine if I tap into the same line.

That is super helpful. Thanks very much. It was the only bit I was worried about.

good to hear it was of use to u, always best to run a separate supply to the heater , as it has its own fuel pump and filter and don’t want to take it off the engines fuel pump supply

always best to follow the manufacturers instruction so then at least u know it’s done correctly , the fuel pipe tee may come in the kit

plse us know how u get on

It would be the other way round if not plumbed correctly, the heater would be starved. Best to wait til the kit comes now I reckon, should have all you need as gstuart suggests i'd think. (and instructions!)
