Started fitting my breather kit today. Axels no problem and from doing a search found that the gearbox/transfer box are easier with the centre consol removed? Fuel breather looks straightforward aswell. But, i can`t see where the one for the timing cover goes:( I know it doesn`t go in the bottom as the kit came with butt plugs for that and the bell housing so has anyone got a picture of where the timing cover one fits in??

(200tdi by the way!)

the gear and transfer box already have breathers fitted, they end just behind the engine, on the bulkhead, just join the 2 together with a T piece and then from there to wherever you want..

done them, its the bell housing and timing case? bungs i think i need

I use a breather on the timing case though...
its a wading plug with a breather, the reason for me to do this is because the way I think its like this..

You hit water and the metal contracts, sucking air, this happens with the diffs, etc...
So, if you are wading and the cold water hits the timing cover it will suck air in, therefore why you have to fit a wading plug...
however, if that hole is blocked by the wading plug, it will still need to suck air in, and so it will force the gasket/seals....
If you fit a breather instead of a wading plug, then when you hit water and the casing sucks air in, it will suck it through the breather, therefore not puting any pressure on the seals/gasket

I use this...and got it from ebay
Its the 90degree wading plug with breather on the bottom right of pic

I still remove the wading plug/breather from the timing cover after being out playing though

I fitted mine for the sake of the time it takes and the extra cost is small,

At least as[JP] says you got no chace of any gasgets going....no matter how samll the risk.
