So im going to have a look at another disco sometime, a 2004 facelift non starter, cranks but wont fire. Also the sunroofs have been leaking for a year so its moldly, but for about 800 quid I figure its worth a look. Guy said he doesn't think it has ACE, so I was wondering, if it wasnt installed from factory, would all the wiring still be in place, and just a case of installing an ECU, accelerometers, wherever they go? and the other bits. And getting it turned on. But for all I know it could just have a conversion kit on it, which I am hoping.

The question is usually the other way round. As in "Should I remove ACE"
I would ask, if its on springs from the factory, why would you give yourself the headache of fitting ACE ??
If its been converted using ARB's, again why refit ACE ??
I'm sure you will get told reinstate ACE (if the scenario suits) as its a brilliant system, and it is, when its working.

The guy said as far as he can tell its on airbags.. was air bags and non ace even an option from factory..?

I know... but I cant live without it

Where air bags as standard not more to do with 7 seats being fitted and had no relation to ACE.??

A lot of people seem to get confused about ACE and SLS. They are totally separate systems.
Self Levelling Suspension or SLS uses air bags for the rear suspension instead of coiled steel springs and the ride height is measured by a pair of sensors and any adjustments automatically made by an ECU controlled air compressor.
ACE is the Active Cornering Enhancement which utilises hydraulic rams to counteract the sideways body roll which can occur when cornering at speed instead of solid steel anti-roll bars. It uses accelerometers, one high up in the roof space and the other low down just above the gearbox to sense the roll and an ECU then operates the appropriate rams to even out the roll.
Both systems can be replaced by static parts and being independent of eachother, vehicles can be seen with any combination of suspension and anti-roll equipment, either from the factory or aftermarket, although I believe that European rules said that the seven seater Disco 2 should be fitted from the factory with self levelling suspension, not necessarily air suspension, it could have been a hydraulic system but air seemed to be cheaper and easier.
If it was never fitted with ACE, it is too complicated to install as @sierrafery has said.

Better handling?

I would look for teh loom by the valve block
I don't think that the vehicle that the OP is talking about would have the valve block. From what I can understand the Disco in question was never fitted with ACE, so it's not just a case of re-instating it, he would be starting from scratch.
And as we say down here when asked for directions, "I wouldn't start from here if I were you".

Thanks for the info guys :)

And im not having a debate here about whether you think its any good or worth the effort... i'm asking what is required to do so, don't worry about what I do to my vehicles :)

Going to look tomorrow instead now, as @MJI said, I'll look to see if it has the wiring in place for the valve block and if the accelerometer is in place underneath.
And Honestly don't know if it was there from factory or not, for all I know it could have just been a tidy conversion, the guy doesn't know much about it.

Both of my LR's give me enough to worry about mate. I don't really care what you do with yours.

Well update, it didn't have any wiring for the valve block, and a proper single power steering pump so must have been non ace from factory, and aside from that it wasn't on air like he said, and wasn't an ES trim. So I left it. Could be a nice project but not for me.
Back to the idea of fixing mine up now... o_O
Fuel pipe then suspension... its such a hard ride, im sure I feel the rear hit the bump stops sometimes from bad potholes, the rear springs look pretty compressed up the tops, and one doesn't even look like its seated properly
