Fit 90/defender roof to Series Landrover

Hi all,
Maybe this is a silly question but could one fit a Defender/90 smooth roof to a land rover series 3? . I know the defender is 2 " longer than the Series , but has anyone modified a 90/Defender roof to fit a Series.
I have seen plenty of defender grills / bonnets fitted to a series

Would there be any pictures available or a website link.

i suppose you could take the back off then remove 2 inches from the roof then glue the back on again

You'd need a 90 windscreen and surround as well.

Would a defender/90 window surround fit a series
I know the older 90 models had the flip down windscreen function like the series. But the older 90's had a ribbed roof and i like the idea of the smooth roof, from what year did the smooth roof start from?

Has anyone ever attempted to do this?

Don't know about this. I do know that the smooth roof started for the 1989 model year - i.e. back-end of 1988.
