Having searched previous FBH questions I cannot find the answer to my question.

I have a 2003 TD6 with TV/Sat Nav unit

The auxillary heater is able to be selected on the screen and when I select it to run either constant or timed I get no ignite of the FBH (blowers start up but no aux pump or FBH noises)

I have tried fuse 59 removal and refit to reset FBH - no difference

When I operate the FBH the * red light slow flashes

My questions this :- When the FBH is operating does the red * light illuminate constantly or does it flash ?

My * light flashes at a slow rate

Before I start removing things can anyone let me know the * red light answer ?

Thanks for any help on this.

shame you havent got a faultmate :p

fired mine up manually the other day using the faultmate unit to test all was working, and it all fired up great.

iv now told the BCU im fitting a t90 receiver. so its ready for me to plug in the T90 unit and remotely start the FBH unit from the fob.

not sure on the light sequence though, i only have the HSE which dosent have the nav screen

and i havent yet manually started the FBH from the MID screen as i dont know how to yet ?!? lol

but it has an arrange of led lights for status of the FBH i think.

when mine fires up, i get the sound of the fans running, then the ticking of the rear FBH fuel pump, then after around 30 seconds the heater fires up with a splutter of smoke.

hope this helps

Exactly as I would have expected mine to do

I take it that a Faultmate is able to fault read the FBH codes/faults etc ?

My Snap-On Solus Ultra hasnt got Aux Heating code reading as an option :(

I thought the timed setting on the satnav display was ventilation only and not for FBH..!!!!

EDIT: Ignore me - just re-read the handbook - those with FBH has two options one for Aux. Heating and one for Aux. Ventilation

Yep, faultmate can read codes and trigger outputs / inputs

With a live input feed so you can check, for example if the glow plug / fuel pump has kicked in or not

Only as I paid for the whole hog which set me back a few quid !

Worth it though lol

Usual failure on Webasto fuel burning heaters is the glowplug, it was always causing problems on boat instalations. Pump will not run if the glowplug is not heating.

Is that right Data? Just that I have read so much about the FBH now its coming out of my ears!! and I never read that. Anyway my fuel pump doesnt tick at all, I have had the FBH out last week and it was spotless like brand new inside, there was actually nothing to clean! Anyway check resistance of glow plug etc and all seemed to be fine, I dont think its ever actually been run apart from the PDI maybe in 2005. Anyway does anyone know a sure fire way of testing the pump? Im trying to decipher if its my fuel pump that needs replacing or the ECU.
Cheers

It was on boat installations so I would expect it to be the same on cars and trucks. It would not be good for the pump to squirt fuel in if there was no ignition working.

Although you can trigger the pump on its own using the faultmate for a couple of seconds
That won't cause no damage

Or put 12v to the pump

Bear in mind, my FBH was disabled for some reson when I checked on diagnostic

I believe that some people got theirs turned off to stop the FBH on the car from smoking out their garage with diesel fumes. As they stay on a couple of seconds to shutdown which can be smokey at times

Yours just might have been disabled in the BCU

Ah I see so before I go and spend silly money on parts I need to check that first, can I activate it with All Comms? I know I cant program stuff in the BCU with all comms but can I at least turn on the FBH?
CHeers

Sorry font think all comms does it, I have an all comms too

That's the main reason I bought the faultmate, for programming the BCU and other ecu's

The all comms don't support such programming as of yet
