any reason not to do it yourself Mike?
Get a MIG welder and an angle grinder.
Practice on scrap
Look here for hints and tips MIG Welding - The DIY Guide then buy replacment sills from here YRM Metal Solutions - Introduction

You'll save a fortune and be ready to do the rear cross member and body mounts, boot floor, rear wheel arches and front inner wings. All of which may well need doing soon if they haven't already been done

I have asked a few places for some quotes on just buying the sills, doing the prep work myself, my mrs brother is a welder so he is going to help me out.
Any idea on how much a pair of inner and outer sills will set me back?

I bet it ain't just you sills that need doing. When I did mine I ended up fabricating bottom of the door posts, the floor around that area and last the body out riggers. What are your inner-wings like because you may as well do them if you have the doors and wings off anyway. Then also the rear arches need prodding at. All I'm thinking is whilst you got it apart you may as well do it now. Easiest way is get your sills already done then buy your self a folder for the other bits. Your brother-in-law should be-able to fabricate the small bits then. I'm in stoke if thats any help to you too.

Ok, Removed the plastic sill covers to reveal that its not as bad as first thought, it is the garage today having some plating done, £120 for both sides which wasnt too bad.

The other failures where as follows

Both rear shocks need changing - any threads with decent instructions?
front shock bush needs replacing - any guidance?

so how biger job is it to change the sill as im in the middle of reparing one of mine for a MOT. anyone got any pics

did mine couple of weeks ago-took a day each side. lots of cutting and welding!
do a search for it cos theres a link to another forum somewhere on here that has a good guide for this.

used 2x5ft pieces of 100x50x4mm steel box section wiv 10mm plate making up the gap between sills and body mounts. the floor was made up of a 4ftx4ft piece of repair panel from autofactors cut to fit the holes!

i did all the prep and a mate welded it all up for me cos my weldings crap.
looks good and is now the strongest part on the disco and they're jackable too if needed. gonna fit some rock sliders to em when get chance
