Hi guys, my Disco TDI (300, 1998) gives a very poor output when the air conditioning is on, nowhere as good as my 2002 TD5. I've been reading up on it and it seems that either I can go somewhere like KWIKFIT and spend £70 or buy some EZ Chill at Halfords for £45 and fill it myself as it fits the spec (R-134A and comes with a gauge). Thing is, I've been told that the refrigerant is a sealed system which has thrown me a tad. Has anyone topped up their aircon with the above mentioned? if so any advice?

Cheers
Al

it does wot it says on the tin - they arent sealed systems. the tin explains all - if its just low, then they are fine - if you have a leak, then you are wasting yo money.

Hmm, hard to say. Something's coming out but not a lot. Took it to an independant Landy garage to ask to check it out for me expecting to pay around £60 or £70 and got a mouthfull of abuse and along the lines of £110, so I thought bugger you I'll have a go myself. Is it normal to pay over £100 to get the air con filled and checked?

I used one of those Halfords jobs when i had the p38, It was ok but there wasnt enough in the tin. As i discovered i had a leak so i changed the condenser. I then took it to kwik fit (i know not everyone likes them and usually i dont either), but it only cost me £35 for a full aircon fill.
Lot less bother and cheaper than Halfords. Kwik fit prices could have changed a bit but i dont think its £70.
