is anyone around this sort of area that wouldn't mind giving me a little help with their EAS unlock? Taking it back to my mechanic tomorrow, would like to be able to drive there!

Beer is obviously included...

Bit far for me. If you haven't got the EAS suite and cable then send a PM to Datatek as you'll need it.

No probs, thank you :)

Just started the beast a second ago, she sounded like she was struggling, then she let out a thunderous noise and a big plume of black smoke. Shut her down and started fine after that. Should I be concerned?

That's not your EAS.

@wammers question, I think!

If you fancy driving in this direction we can plug the Nanocom in but it would help if we knew what to look at.
No, it's something completely different! #denOfVipers

I'm off for a roast in my (currently) running smoothly B8 A4. I'd love to otherwise, I'll post tomorrow on what Turner diagnostics tell me.

Thanks all.

Probably unburnt fuel in the cylinders....when was the last time she was run...??

If you have a dribbly injector, it could be leaking into one/or more of the cylinders causing momentary overfueling.

Fair enough, good to know. She did 300 miles two days ago ( half at 35mph )

I'm probably wrong but that sounds like unspent fuel going off in the exhaust side of things. I've something in the back of my mind that it can damage the turbo but you're best off waiting for Wammers.

G~

You're aware it isn't ODB compliant? Assume they have Land Rover diagnostics.

My Snap On Box can read mine. Had to reset EAS on my P38 few weeks back after air leak put it into limp mode. But Obviously LR Diagnostics would be preferable..

In East Sussex if anyone ever needs it..

Knackered compressor, couldnt keep up. Picking up a replacement tomorrow, then it's just the door locks and new more powerful bulbs apparently! The smoking is supposedly the fuel pump. .

Unless it's smoking all the time it ain't. What you described is typical of over rich cylinder caused by a dripping injector. Unless you spun it over for a long time before it caught. And have a couple of duff glow plugs. That would give same result.

Thanks again! I'll get them checked...

These people here are legends of the internet.

New compressor runs like a dream. Bulbs didnt fix the lcds though, but had the becm back out and checked and there's nothing wrong there. Is it possible I loosened a cable when I took the stereo out? There's nothing else to check at this point.

Thanks sir. Again, you are correct. I bought a gaggle of Denso glow plugs, fitted and now she starts without hesitation. Sans smoke.
