My EPB sounds like a cat being murdered when I pull the lever to put it on, then I get a message saying Parking Brake fault. I've just replaced pads, discs, sensors and nsr caliper. I'm new to all this, so have I done something wrong or missed something somewhere? Any help greatly appreciated. 57 plate 2.7 TDV6 if that helps!

hi

check out the link that @brianconwy has put up, “ Bodsys guide “ is very good

basically u haven’t set them up correctly , don’t use the EPB until you’ve done them, or ur knacker ur EPB module and end up with a £600 bill

also follow the bedding in process

daft question plse , assume u replaced pads and discs as a pair per axle

Hi, yes, both rear discs and pads. It was actually making that noise BEFORE we changed everything. I've read in other forums/groups that it makes that noise when the epb has locked on. Mine doesn't go on at all.

hi, is urs a manual or auto, did u put the hand brake in service mode plse

if it doesn’t go on it normally means it’s needs adjusting , so that when u put the EPB it has enough travel to lock on

maybe ur shoes are too tight to the inside of ur disc, , so when u apply the EPB it hasn’t got enough travel to hit the sensor inside the EPB ecu so goes back off again , but screeches as the motor strains trying to apply them because there’s not enough slack in the cables

did u adjust the shoes through the disc hole or just fitted the discs

when bleeding the brake system if u empty the ABS unit u then need a diagnostic machine to open it to allow it to be fully cleared of air, but i imagine not much came out when u removed the caliper

just for a useless bit of info , u can also use a diagnostic reader to set the EPB shoes into dismount mode which allows u to get the shoes on and off easier,

hope that makes sense, lol ,

PS, video of what’s inside the EPB module

before i forget , make sure ur in high , as if u try and adjust the EPB in low ratio it puts the EPB on harder

plse let us know how u get on

The epb shoes want adjusting annually and at the first sign of noise/trouble want tearing down and either lubing or replacing.
No issues if looked after.

It's a manual. As for putting the EPB into service mode, well....you've got me there lol. No idea what that even is I'm ashamed to say :-(

thks, i also printed out bodsys guide and found it invaluable , service mode is to stop the handbrake coming on when you’ve got the discs off and safety for thy fingers, lol

don’t forget there’s plenty of us here if u get stuck and don’t forget to plse let us know how u get on

Thanks mate. Unfortunately, my knowledge goes as far as to be able to drive it. Outside of that remit, and I'm totally reliant on others lol. It's a pity there isn't a knowledge map, a map of where the most knowledgeable owners live, so that we can grab the nearest by the short and curlies, dowse them in some form of alcoholic temptation, and watch their magic take place on our beasts..... Or is there already such a thing? Lol
