Hi I have just had two shoes replaced on the near side rear one was solid and I got the dreaded scream. Now tha hand break won't reset and when I apply it it makes a very strange sound like a musical instrument. Clearly it needs to go on a LR computer but as any one had this before. My local garage ( not LR) as no idea,

There are very clear proceedures for replacing EPB shoes on D3's,their adjustment is fairly critical.Get it wrong and you risk the electric winch overdoing it and chewing up the little plastic gears in the winch. As you can guess this can be expensive.
Best to let someone sort it who has the right info, diagnostic gear,(To set the EPB in the mount and latch positions..) and experience to fix it for you.Once set up properly they are generally reliable - well,ish....

you only had the nearside shoes replaced ??? what was the inside of the disk like ? was it adjusted properly ? did they do the correct bedding in procedure ? some times you can get the motor the relatch if your lucky
cheers mike

Hi. I am driving a 54 reg disco 3 (production Jan 2005), bought from a Land Rover dealer in 2009 and now on 240k miles. We've had our ups and downs over the years but in general she has been pretty well behaved, and consistently does better than 30mpg (my next car will be full electric). I have to say this is my favourite car of any I have ever owned, which is why I persevere. However, the EPB has been a fairly regular nuisance, and she is back in the local garage this morning after two days of screeching. Having read this and previous threads, does anyone know if there is a replacement module or any other way of overcoming this, or is it purely down to a regular clean/reset and good luck?

If you go onto the disco3 website and look near the top middle theres a link to their wiki section with all you will ever need to know about the brakes and the epb

I think thats it but tbh Ive never read it just seen it referred to many times, so must be pretty good.
But as the op hasnt replied I reckon this thread is a dead duck!

wasn’t sure as i know there are a few threads around ;)

surely not , another dead thread, who would have thought , lol
