Hello.

So driving back home yesterday, the engine coughs for a second, the engine management light comes on then back to normal.

Seconds later the water temperature goes to danger, then another wobble with the engine and the water temperature goes as far left as it can. About a minuite or so later as I'm pulling away from a junction the water temerature shoots to the right and then the engine cuts out. Not having it and wont start.

Recovery on the side of the road, he sprays some easy start and the engine turns over, but once he stops it cuts out, so no fuel to the engine it would seem.

This morning I was able to start the engine and move it from the top of the drive to the bottom but then couldnt start it again.

I saw I had a leaky fuel filter so repaced that, purged the engine and it sounds as if fuel is getting up to the engine. No leaks in the fuel filter now so can't see it being that .

Turns over okay but nothing else is happening, earth point seem okay, one under drivers backside, one by diff and one to the driver side under the engine cleaned and checked.

Still turning over but nothing happens, looked at the yellow relay under the drivers seat but that seems okay, it's had some trouble in the past but ther glow plugs come on okay.

Any suggestions as to what it could be?

Could it be oil in the loom thing that TD5 are famous for? Oh and your glow plugs are burnt up from the guy using easy start/either to try to get it to run. Either is not good for a engine.

Would that account for the changes in the water temperature reading also?

Has anyone had this and resolved it? A few posts with ideas but not seen any that have resolved it!

Thanks again, Mark
