Hi Guys

Sorry to bother you but I am after a little help.

My P38 died last week due to a thrown rod :( anyhow I have removed an engine from a E34 525 TDS, all fitted but for some reason the glow plug light won't illuminate and the engine won't crank.

I can get the engine cranking if I jump the solenoid so I know the starter works :)

I used the diesel fuel pump from the BMW so I am wondering if it's an immobilliser problem or not. I have tried plugging the loom from the original diesel fuel pump but this made no difference :(

Any clues:confused:

Cheers
Dan

If you used the ECU from the BMW it won't talk to the BECM, do you get any message on the message centre such as engine disabled?
Irishrover is your man for this I think.

Hi Datatek

I'm using the original Range Rover ECU, and don't get any error messages, just a engine check light :(

Dan :)

Sorry can't help much. I'm pretty sure that the pump is not coded, so it should not be that. If it wont turn over then it sounds like the engine ECU and the BECM have lost synch or you have missed a connection somewhere.
As I said, Irishrover is your man, you could try to PM him.

Hi Guys

If it has gone out of sync would that also explain why it's not cranking?

I'm in Hemel Hempstead :)

Cheers

lol at torching it :)

sadly it owe me a wee bit of money at the moment :(

Anyhow any ideas on whether the sync issue would affect cranking? I was under the impression it only affected the fuel pump?

I'm more than happy to buy one of these sync gadgets just need to know if it will be money well spent or not :(

Cheers
Dan :)

Hi Guys

little update, have tried re-syncing the car and the device comes back saying it's ok. I've put it down to the BMW pump possibly being immobilised, does anyone know if they are? and if they are can they be bypassed?

Cheers
Dan :)
