Engine running hot

Got a 2.8td diahatsu in my landy runs very well but reasonly the temperture gauge reads hot on looking she don't seem to boil over nor lose water ,on some advice I took the thermostat out but she still reads hot ,any ideas ?

I've heard that these engines say they run hot as the standard gauge runs wrong unless you have a different gauge plus these engines are nightmare to keep cool anyway.

Did you swap the gauges over from donor?

Yes swapped gauges it's always read normal ,I got electric fan on a switch I use but never used it much as gauge was never high

Check you have a good earth as mine did this and turned out to be a poor earth.

Are there any other symptoms that its actually running a lot hotter?

No not really ,I only need to go about 2 miles then it's reading hot,think I,ll check earth ,I think I got another engine stat I could put on to test it's reading right
