Engine Replacement

Hi there I am pretty new to this forum and have to post as my engine has packed up.

It seems my 1997 p38 engine has packed in and I have been told that my very good garage to source one around £1350

I just wanted to ask what are the pitfalls in looking online trusting other sites an what to look for in a second hand or reconditioned engine.

Mine is a petrol 4.6 with lpg conversion so what should I look for ???

It's only done 70000 odd miles ( 550000 when I bought it 2.5 years ago)

As you can imagine its much loved so I don't want to sell up without a fight

buy from an established dealer google their name to see if there's any moans/rants about them and ALWAYS use a credit card to pay for it..

Whats gone wrong with the current engine?
If you want to go the whole hog it may be prudent to go for a top hatted block to avoid any future liner slips. It will set you back a similar amount to what youv'e been quoted just for the block though.
