I've got my self a disco, but it had an engine problem and would not start. So i've taken the head off and found this:-

Going to get the piston out this weekend, and have a look how bad the bore is, I'am think about using a homing tool to just clean up the bore(Will post pics.) . Then just stick in a new piston, Also going to get the turbo off and give a good clean out. Also the head needs a good clean (But thats not too much trouble).

Anyone had anything like this before? Any advice? I've bought the disco knowing the engine didn't work (Very cheap), so don't know what happend for it to get this way.

Thanks

andy

Head not too bad - needs a good clean out, Might have to re-cut and get 2 new valves but i've got all the equipment to do this. Will also get a new glow plug / look at injector.

Nice pics. I'd be looking for evidence of coolant leak to that cylinder to cause that mess. Head gasket, cracked head / block.
